Tina Keyes was asked to be a panelist for MomPros Orlando's March 2025 discussion on all things co-parenting, blended families, and step-parenting. Tina is a FL Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, Co-Parenting Specialist™, CDC Certified Divorce Coach™ and CDC Special Need Divorce Coach™. She is also a contributor and instructor for the CDC Caring Co-Parent Coach™ program and is Trauma Informed and Certified in several High Conflict Co-Parenting and Mediation programs. Tina specializes in working with parents trying to get through divorce with as little financial impact and emotional turmoil possible.

In the co-parenting arena, she talked about some of the pitfalls parents find themselves in when trying to co-parent, how to overcome a high conflict co-parent, the importance of setting firm but respectful boundaries.
Regarding step-parenting, she talked about the lack of "grace" given to new stepmothers and the need to undetstand that this is a new role and the "boundary line" is very blurry for step-parents as far as what is considered being "too involved".

She talked about how control, or lack thereof, is universally one of the most challenging issues for co-parents and step-parents alike. Getting to a place of acceptance over what is actually within your control is key to a healthy dynamic, as well as an understanding that children are adults a lot longer than they are kids. Which, ultimately, serves as a reminder to divorced parents and step-parents that investing energy and time into the relationship with those kids is the best use of your bandwidth, rather than arguing with one another.
Fellow panelists, AJ Garcia and Ashley Herring also shared insights on how to co-parent more peacefully and shared strategies on how to prioritize the children's well-being every day, as well as your own.
